My breakfast usually starts with a couple of eggs. For health reasons, we started to buy organically fed, chicken eggs from a local farm, when one day our family ran out of eggs. It was to early to visit the farm and what about the public, how would they be able to solve the problem? They would have to wait until the farmers market opens on Saturday. It was Tuesday. How could someone find out if local eggs were close by? Yellow pages? News Paper? I searched "local organic eggs" on Google, 35 million addresses appeared, I checked the first ten URLs and nothing was local. This was a problem worth solving.
Many of us already know the benefits of buying local. Buying local can make a huge impact and strengthen so much, including: your community, the economy, the environment, your health and culture; factors that you will be hearing a lot more about. It is not just about buying local food, the same can be said for anything made local. In small pockets, buy local consumerism and cooperatives has been spinning its wheels since 1472. The problem, as I see it, is local products are not convenient and the vendors and their supporters are highly fragmented. When people want to buy local, it is hard! I want to fix the problem for all makers, artist, farmers and fishermen - anything made in small batches and local, this is our niche. Small is indeed beautiful - world-wide, solopreneurs, micro enterprises and small business already are making a difference. Our purple cow, blue ocean strategy is creating ‘local’ online. So, when a customer, is thinking about ‘hiring a product’ to get a job done,

We could start 4ULOCAL one customer and one vendor at a time, compete head to head or we can leverage and bring focus to the already 30,000 Canada-based third-party sellers on Amazon from all 13 provinces and territories – many of which are small and medium-sized businesses. Last year they grossed more than $1 billion on Amazon.ca in 2019 and grew 40% year-over-year.
4ULOCAL consumers know it’s not just about price, today we must assess the environmental, ethical, community costs of our buying behavior. Consumers make purchase decisions based on the information they find online, local needs to be there and easy to find. If we want durable economies and vibrant community then we must support local. This is a start, our move in that direction.

Consumers already appreciate the quality of something made by hand or made in a small batch or grown in a small garden, we make it easy to find. 4ULOCAL builds on the current trends in retail, as described in the video, our ethos-pathos-logos is centered around sustainable development plus. Our innovation will continue as we look at integrating AI and VR. In the future, we hope to amplify the work of the catholic church, the teachings of Gandhi, Credit Unions, Coops, scholar EF Schumacher, BALLE, community supported agriculture, B Corps, CEDIFs and any and all groups that leverage the power of local. We look forward to the future of local and 4ULOCAL.
